Matt is the owner of the agency and takes pride in building a business rooted in trust, relationships, and community. When he’s not at the office, you’ll likely find him at his camp, fishing from his boat, or working on one of his many classic car restoration projects—though he admits he may need a bigger garage.
Matt is the proud father of a son, Sam, and a daughter, Juliann, who will be the future owner of the agency. He’s also a proud grandfather and enjoys spending time with his growing family. Outside of work, Matt loves traveling, riding his Harley-Davidson, and making the most of time spent outdoors.

Lynne is the longest-tenured member of our team and the steady, knowledgeable presence clients have trusted for years. She’s a proud mom to a son and daughter and a grandmother to four kiddos who keep her on her toes.
Outside the office, Lynne loves going to the gym, country music, a good glass of chardonnay, and motorcycle rides. She’s always up for trying new foods and new adventures—especially travel. Her journeys have taken her to Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Italy, and the Canary Islands.
An accomplished runner, Lynne has completed five 200-mile relay races (including overnight runs) and two full marathons. Whether at work or play, she brings energy, experience, and enthusiasm to everything she does.

Christine brings experience, creativity, and a genuine love of people to our team. When she’s not at the office, she and her husband are often heading out in their camper with their two dogs, Lilly and Rosie, happily along for the ride.
She’s passionate about raising awareness for diabetes research and studied fashion merchandising, which explains her eye for detail. Christine loves classic rock and once worked as a hostess at the York Steak House in Methuen—so she’s been taking care of people long before it was officially her job.

Shelley has been a cornerstone of our team since 1987, bringing experience, dedication, and plenty of cheer (literally—she was a cheerleader and class president growing up in Exeter, NH!). After years of infertility challenges, she and her husband Tim were blessed with a son in 2009, and family continues to be at the heart of her life.
A lifelong Disney enthusiast, Shelley even worked a second job at the Disney Store back in the day. She’s also been raising awareness and fundraising for her Godson, who has Cystic Fibrosis, since 1999. Active in her community, Shelley is a former PTA member and currently serves on the Boosters Club board in her hometown of Kittery, ME.

Born and raised in Amesbury, she recently moved just a mile away to South Hampton, NH, but still spends as much time as possible at the family camp, even braving winter weekends for ice fishing with friends and family.
She shares her home with her husband, Matt—a mechanic who can’t say no to a good deal—which explains why she now owns four trucks. Juliann is also the proud owner of two hound dogs, Cricket and Beulah. Outside the office, she’s deeply involved in her community as President of the Amesbury Carriage Museum, a member of the Amesbury Lions Club, and a committee member at the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce. A lifelong lover of old cars, she managed the Carriagetown Car Show for 10 years and collects classic cars, old tractors, and snowmobiles.

Jenn brings energy, enthusiasm, and a love of teamwork to everything she does at the agency. She has a twin sister and is a proud University of Connecticut graduate. A lifelong swimmer, Jenn competed throughout college and still loves hitting the pool whenever she can.
A devoted baseball fan—especially of the Cleveland Indians—she’s also a proud mom to her son Jack, who’s gearing up to graduate high school and head off to college. Jenn is a proud aunt to three nephews and a self-proclaimed thrill ride junky, always up for concerts, adventures, and fun with friends and family. Recently, Jenn celebrated a personal victory as a breast cancer survivor, showing the same determination and spirit she brings to every part of her life.

Fran was a competitive runner since she was a teenager but was sidelined as an adult thanks to
hip and knee injuries.
She’s an animal lover through and through, and once owned a trained therapy dog she proudly took to local nursing homes. Fran married her husband, Walter, in 1997 and happily credits him with handling the shopping and cooking—two things she’s more than happy to skip.
A self-proclaimed bird nerd, Fran keeps binoculars in her office and keeps her birdfeeders well stocked. In her spare time, she and Walter enjoy getting out on their boat and spending time on the water.

Heath has been in the insurance business since 1997 and brings experience, dedication, and a friendly approach to helping clients. Born and raised in Amesbury, he now lives in South Hampton, NH, with his wife Becky, their son Seth, daughter Sarah, and three big dogs.
A music lover and left-handed guitarist, Heath also enjoys fishing, boating, and staying active on the ice. He was a member of the 1991–1992 Amesbury High Championship Hockey Team and still hits the rink with friends in a men’s league. Whether at work or play, Heath brings energy, passion, and a team spirit that’s hard to beat.

Sarah first joined the agency in 2000 right out of college and, after exploring a career as a dental assistant, returned to the team in 2023. Born and raised in Amesbury, she met her husband Ray here, and they continue to call the area home.
Passionate about family, Sarah and Ray were part of the foster parent program and fell in love with their foster daughter, eventually completing their family by adopting her. Sarah brings dedication, care, and a personal touch to every client interaction, making everyone feel like part of the family.

Irene has decades of experience in the insurance world, including serving as VP of Technical Affairs for the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents and educating agents—including everyone in our office. After retiring, she quickly realized she was far too energetic to sit still and returned to insurance part-time, much to everyone’s delight.
Outside the office, Irene enjoys daily walks on the beach with her dog, and she and her husband Bud spend a few months every winter thawing out in Saint Martin. A proud mom of three and grandmother of three granddaughters, she balances family, travel, and fun with ease. Irene loves Hallmark movies, and when it comes to music, The Doors are her all-time favorite

Beulah joined the agency after a short and unsuccessful career as a hunting dog—turns out her sense of smell is, politely speaking, not great. What she lacks in tracking skills, however, she more than makes up for in warmth, charm, and dedication to client comfort.
An enthusiastic napper, she believes all visitors should be greeted with unlimited opportunities to pet her. When not supervising the office she enjoys boat rides—despite the small but important detail that she cannot swim.
Beulah is famously afraid of the trash truck, cautiously curious about most other things, and surprisingly fond of lettuce. Her calm presence and friendly demeanor help ensure our office remains a welcoming, low-stress place for clients and staff alike.

Welcome to Gould Insurance
Gould Insurance has been a family owned and family run business in Amesbury since 1934. Robert “Bud” Gould was running the agency with his son Jay in 1995 when they purchased C.B. Peterson Insurance Agency, also another family owned and run insurance agency in Amesbury. During that merger Matt Sherrill went to work for the Gould family and has proudly been with the agency since 1996. In 2016 Matt purchased Gould Insurance and continues the tradition of caring for all the clients like they were our own family. Our agency, like our tagline states, is “Community Driven – Customer Focused” we proudly support all the amazing non-profit organizations as well as the schools in the greater Amesbury area.
